Our home base for over 22 years
Electrician in Auburn, Maine
ACS Electrical Contractors is based right here in Auburn, and it is the community we know best. For more than 22 years we have wired new construction, upgraded aging services, and answered emergency calls across the city — from the older homes near downtown and New Auburn to the newer builds out toward Lake Auburn and Danville.
Because Auburn is our home base, response times here are the fastest in our service area, and our emergency line is answered around the clock.
Electrical Work in Auburn
Much of Auburn’s housing predates modern electrical code. A lot of the homes near the river and the old shoe-shop neighborhoods still run on 60- or 100-amp services, cloth-insulated branch circuits, and the occasional Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel that no longer belongs in service. Those are the jobs we handle most often here: bringing a service up to 200 amps so a house can carry a heat pump, an EV charger, and a modern kitchen without nuisance trips.
Auburn also has a working commercial and light-industrial base — shops off Center Street, Minot Avenue, and the Auburn Industrial Park. We handle three-phase service, tenant fit-ups, and code-correction work for those buildings alongside our residential calls.
Services We Provide in Auburn
Fuse to Circuit Breaker Upgrades
Older Auburn homes with fuse boxes or undersized panels are the single most common upgrade we do in the city.
Knob and Tube Wiring Replacement
Pre-war homes near downtown and New Auburn frequently still have live knob-and-tube in the walls.
Generators & Transfer Switch Installation
Ice storms and wind events knock out power across the Androscoggin valley; standby generators keep Auburn homes running.
